Red scarves, red bags, red shoes & red lips. I’ll take that over anything any day. Nothing makes me feel better than a pop of red! (Unless it’s a morning surprise on my face…) I loved the idea of red lips when I was in high school, but an older guy who I had a crush on told me that your natural lip color is the most underrated thing. He was older, so I trusted him. Dumb choice, Aubrey Lorena! I later went on to date this man and when we broke up I wore bright red lipstick every single day. When I turned 21 it was my secret weapon in my new motto, “classy girls don’t kiss in bars, you fool” (drawn from The Lumineers song of the same title). Granted, lipstick does not deter many a drunk boy, but I thought it was a good excuse. Red slowly became my favorite color to accent every outfit with. It made every outfit stand out! It’s the perfect way to stand out! It’s also a great conversation starter, “look at you, you’re wearing red, you’re so bold!” Be bold.
I also clearly love my striped top, and good news, stripes never seem to go out of style! I’ve had this top forever, but I recently found this one that I love!
Some of my favoreds (get it?!😂)
Lipstick: NARS Dragon Girl (love the name, love the color, love that it’s a pencil so I can get that crisp line action! Also, I’ve literally had mine for over a year. It lasts forever, just get a quality pencil sharpener. The $1 ones will rip up the stick! I learned this the hard way…)
Boots: Hunter (yes, yes, yes, I wear these bad boys everywhere. I even wear them to the office when we have really stormy days and everyone loves em! Get yours at Costco! They are half the price. I kid you not. If you don’t have a Costco card ask around, I’m sure someone you know has one and it’s always fun to go to Costco. Heck, go with a stranger! Just kidding, please do not go anywhere with a stranger. Especially Costco, they might steal your samples… Fun story: I told my boyfriend we should get a Costco card, he told me he already had one. That’s when I knew this relationship was really going somewhere. 😍)
Nail Polish: In the winter I love Got the Blues for Reds by O.P.I (Their names are so fun!) And every other time of the year I am downright obsessed with Essie’s Lollipop! (When My nail beds are really looking sad I get myself a shellac mani, usually opting for red, and the shellac reds are never as RED as I want them to be! Also, it should be noted that every single time I wear my Essie nail polish someone asks if they’re shellac!)
Scarf: Target (nothing detracts from an unmade face more than a bright red scarf. I love adding mine with my black leather jacket for a more emphasized pop! Scarves keep you cozy, but not in that suffocating way. Plus, we’re so versatile! Your legs are cold? Bunch up that scarf on your lap, your shoulders, wrap it around you like a mini blanket! Raining and you don’t have a hood? BEHOLD! Your scarf can double as one!)
