Hi, I’m Aubrey & I am so happy you’re here!
In fall of 2020 we moved into our current home on a 7,800 sqft lot. With our new home we inherited 4 Rhode Island Red hens, and thus my obsession with self sufficiency and “micro farming” began. Being able to go into our backyard to collect eggs during that crazy time felt so good. It wasn’t long before we reconfigured our backyard to move the chicken coop to an unused space and turn the ever-sunny chicken yard into a kitchen garden. That first spring I built garden boxes on the cheap, that I still use today, and learned as much as I could about square foot gardening. Do you know how much you can grow in one square foot? A lot.
Two years into my kitchen gardening adventure I started growing more than enough food to preserve and started learning about pressure cooking, water bathing and other forms of preservation. I am passionate about becoming as self sufficient as possible, no matter how little room you have, and I hope to start a backyard / patio / balcony gardening revolution!
Someday we hope to move our family to a true farm with a much larger garden to feed our family year round, many more fruit trees and room for more animals, but for now we’re making our space work for us. I hope to see you in the garden soon!
