Wonderful Christmas Presents for Kids

I’m so tempted to not buy any presents for kids this year. It is a constant battle around this house to keep toys managed. However, there are plenty of toys and games that I love having around the house. Ones that inspire imaginative play, and hours of entertainment. Here are some of the presents for kids that I would absolutely buy again if ours ever go missing! And they’re all available on Amazon so you don’t need worry about them getting here before Christmas with 2 day shipping!

Toys for Kids

Floor Puzzles – These are wonderful to have for littles, especially with tinies around. No need to worry about them choking on these, and if they crawl across the puzzle it will likely be fine! There’s something that feels less overwhelming when puzzle pieces are this large. They’re harder to lose, and easier to put together. We have this one, but also love this one!

Mega Bloks – I personally think these are a must have for all kids. We have had ours for years and we still get them out frequently to play with. The great thing about Mega Bloks / Legos is if you lose a piece you can still play with the rest of the set. And there is no end to the imaginative play here. Lots of times when kiddos are begging to play and I’m tired I suggest we build a tall, tall tower! There’s fun in the building and the falling over once it reaches tippy top height!

Polly Pockets – bonus points if you can find these at an estate / garage sale! We found a huge bag of compact polly pockets at a garage sale this summer. When we got them home my daughter spent the rest of the day playing with them. There are still days where she will be playing with them for hours. I love toys that encourage independent play so I can get things done without resorting to screen time. Here are some she likes to set up and create a little Polly Pocket village with:

Mermaid Seashell

Pineapple

Flamingo Floatie – Pool Party

Hedgehog Cafe

Mr. Pencils ABC Backpack – We have had this for years and it is still a hit with our 5 year old. There is a game where Mr. Pencil teaches you how to draw an animal using a letter of your choice. It’s a hit around here! We will often use the drawing side just to doodle and play games together. It has proven to be a timeless hit around here!

Games for Kids

Memory – We love, love, love Memory around here. It’s an easy setup and play game. We received a Disney Princess version last Christmas and it has been a favorite all year long. Another wonderful way to entertain and engage with your littles all while improving their (and your) memory! It’s kind of wild how good they get at the game after awhile.

Gathering a Garden – This is a new game to us, and we love it. My daughter asks to play it nearly every day, and it has a pretty quick, but engaging, play time. The goal is to gather items for your garden before racing back before everyone else. The colors and illustrations on the board are beautiful and it engages conversations about what our little one would like to see in our upcoming garden!

Books for Kids

Evermore by Matthew Cordell – we received this as a Christmas present one year, at first glance I thought oh my, this is so long for a bedtime story! But I was so enchanted by the story and the illustrations. It quickly became a favorite of mine and my little ones.

Little Critter by Mercer Mayer – the Little Critter collection is a huge hit in this house. My daughter asks for his little mischievous stories before bedtime more often than not! This collection includes 7 books that are quick reads and ever so silly.

Little Blue Truck by Alice Schertle – Another bedtime favorite around here. I kind of think my husband likes these books more than our littles do, but they definitely enjoy his joy while reading. And how many books can you say you genuinely enjoy reading over and over (and over and over) before bedtime? Already have the original? Here are some of our favorite sequels:

Little Blue Truck Leads the Way

Little Blue Truck’s Springtime

Good Night, Little Blue Truck

The Wonderful Things You Will Be by Emily Winfield Martin – We received this as a Baby Shower gift and it is one of my very favorites. I love the illustrations in all of Emily’s books, they are so whimsical & beautiful, and I want to frame some prints for each of my children’s bedrooms.
